Marc O’Connor of PestGuard demonstrates how Microshare occupancy data deployed in rodent traps charges the pest control game, adding diagnostic and remediation capabilities to move the industry beyond simple extermination. Recently acquired by the French facilities management multinational Elis, PestGuard has commenced deployment of the smart traps in Ireland with an eye on global expansion.
Adding occupancy sensors to rodent traps allows for a granular understanding of activity patterns on a given site and can cut costs and greenhouse gas emissions by reducing the number of site visits necessary to check them. This approach also enables a more humane approach to the control of small mammals, a requirement in many regulatory jurisdictions.
