Review of EverSmart and Microshare Platform deployment at a leading global airport

In late 2023, Microshare won a competitive tender for Digital Cleaning Management, including task and routing management and all IoT infrastructure projects, for the next 5 years at Zurich Airport, which is regarded as one of the leading airports in the world.

Microshare has deployed its EverSmart Clean and Washroom products widely in Zurich’s terminals and has begun integrating legacy systems into the Microshare Platform. This gives airport operators a holistic view of all IoT data feeds with telematic displays, alerts and historical analytic outputs filtered algorithmically through the AI/ML capabilities of our Platform.

Scale and scope

To date Microshare has equipped 400 washrooms with feedback buttons and motion sensors that are the foundation of our EverSmart Washroom solution. An additional 300 will follow.

  • After initial results proved positive, Zurich Airport asked us to connect 9,000 legacy soap dispensers and 5,000 rubbish bins to our Platform, with more to follow.
  • Microshare trained 30 cleaning supervisors to interpret data from our dashboard and and app-based displays, which are now used to manage the airport cleaning crews. These alerts will now be analyzed and bundled to further optimize cleaning routes.
  • Microshare and ZHR are conducting joint data analytics sessions development of the React-M app to further digitize cleaning and maintenance at the airport.

Stellar outcomes

  • Analysis of EverSmart Washroom feedback patterns enabled Zurich Airport to reduce the cleaning of each washroom from 8x to 2x a day and to manage other cleaning tasks based on alerts, with resulting reductions in labor and cleaning chemical resources.
  • Zurich is adding on more data and sensors across the airport to further improve customer experience and service efficiencies.
    • Custom feedback stations will be installed after the security line to gauge customer experience
    • Additional feedback stations at spots throughout the terminal will provide the ability for customers to respond to cleanliness or other problems.
    • Another 6,000 soap dispenser sensors will measure and alert when soap needs to be re-filled

Safety and wellness

ZRH

In a study for Bradley Industries, over 89% of workers reported that the physical environment in which they work is directly correlated with the value they believe their employer places on them.

EverSmart solutions deliver the data that underpins this kind of reassurance, boosting retention rates, productivity and employee morale.

Staff who feel good about their jobs are inspired to serve others. Taking care of your workers, in other words, is part of taking care of business.

A survey of 4,000+ workers in the US, UK, UAE and Singapore found:

– 71% of workers believe more workplace technology would help them better manage their well-being

– 61% believe workplace technology could help them better manage their mental health

– 80% would like their employer to user anonymized health and environmental data to improve safety, health and wellness
