EverSmart Rodent featured in Microsoft’s Autumn 2024 Technology Record

“Microshare, a Microsoft Preferred IoT Partner, developed a remote monitoring system driven by AI and machine learning and its EverSmart Rodent algorithm that is transforming the previously analogue pest control industry and making cities safer for the public. Traditional rodent control involves dispatching trucks so that staff can check bait boxes. By retrofitting these boxes with a passive infrared motion sensor linked to the algorithm through the Azure Cloud, fewer truck dispatches are required, lowering costs, energy and rodenticide use, stretching labor resources and revolutionizing business models.”

EverSmart Rodent- Aardvark case study

Aardvark’s PCO’s cut rodent activity by more than 50%

Here is how they did it…

Every once in a while, a technology debuts that changes the way industry works: The shipping container for cargo hauling, Excel spreadsheets for accounting, the ATM for banking. EverSmart Rodent, the first true native software solution for the Pest Control industry, is just such a product. In a nine-week trial at two busy, messy commercial sites serviced by Philadelphia’s Aardvark Pest Management, EverSmart Rodent reduced rodent activity 56% and 39% respectively, dramatically demonstrating the power and business value of a well-designed remote monitoring solution.

During the period of the nine-week remote monitoring rodent control study, the Microshare-Aardvark team tackled two high-traffic areas subject to sustained rodent pressure. Site 1 is a large university cafeteria in an urban setting consisting of 17 snap traps with retrofitted with PIR sensors. Site 2 is a hospital cafeteria in an urban setting consisting of 19 traps with retrofit sensors. In both cases, sensors were deployed outside of traps to track “void” areas where traps or bait boxes were impractical.
